Evelyn Elaine "Dolly" Winsor, 88, of Red Wing, died on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Deer Crest in Red Wing. She was born in Red Wing on April 26, 1921, to Amanda (Johnson) and David Winblad. She graduated from Central High School in 1939. After graduation she worked in the office of the Red Wing Shoe Company for several years. She married Willard C. Fischer in Red Wing on June 26, 1943. He passed away on April 4, 1947. She married Mark F. Winsor in Red Wing on April 14, 1951.
Funeral Mass for Robert "Bob" R. Olson will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, West Albany in rural Millville, Minn., with Father Richard J. Dernek officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Olson, 72, of Red Wing, died Monday at his home. Robert Ralph Olson was born Aug. 20, 1936, to Oscar and Alice (Ackerman) Olson in Wabasha, Minn. He attended rural West Albany School in Wabasha County, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City. @death of veteran: He served in the U.S. Army.
Margaret O. Leerssen, 88, of Lake City died Monday at the Lake City Nursing Home, Hospice. Margaret was born Aug. 18, 1920, to Orie (Olive Krause) Hislop in Minneapolis. She graduated from Lake City High School in Lake City in 1938. She married Herman W. Leerssen on Sept. 19, 1938, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. Margaret worked as a kidney dialysis home technician for Alvin Allers. She was the first person in Wabasha County to offer this in home care. She also worked as a ward clerk at the Lake City Hospital for 30 years. Her husband, Herman, passed away in 1988.
Erik Leroy Tri, 39, of Red Wing, died on Saturday, July 18, 2009 as a result of a massive heart attack. Erik was born on Aug. 18, 1969, in Minneapolis, the only child of Eddy and Pat (Gustafson) Tri. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1987. He married Christine Anderson on April 15, 1996, in Las Vegas, and they just celebrated their 13th anniversary this year. Erik had been employed as a machinist for D.L. Ricci, Intek Plastics, and currently at Tempco Corporation in Mendota Heights. He was a member of the Bellechester American Legion Post 598.
Robert Olson, 72, of Red Wing, Minn., died Monday at his home. Arrangements are pending at the Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel.
Polka Mass for Miles D. Moyer will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, with Father Richard J. Dernek officiating. Private burial will be at a later date in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Lake City. Mr. Moyer, 77, of Lake City, peacefully died Thursday, July 16, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous three-month battle with cancer. Following his wishes, Miles body was donated to the Mayo Foundation. Miles Darwin Moyer was born Jan.
Kevin James Conery, 59, of Ellsworth, died Sunday at the home of his sisters in White Bear Lake, Minn. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Ellsworth, with Father Tom Donaldson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the church. Honorary urn bearers will be Kevin's brothers and brothers-in-law. Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ellsworth, is handling arrangements.
Janice J. Burr, 73, of Hastings died Friday at her home. Janice was born Oct. 20, 1935, in Hastings to Francis and Agnes (Doffing) Dummer. She was a 1953 graduate of Hastings High School and was a former employee at 1st National Bank in St. Paul. Janice married Lawrence Burr on Aug. 9, 1958, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Hastings, and she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Phyllis Muriel Learn, 82, of Lyle, Minn., passed away Friday at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home, Stacyville, Iowa. She was born Sept. 21, 1926, near London, Minn., the daughter of Harry and Grace Cook. She married Donald Learn Sept. 22, 1944. To this union six children were born. Phyllis served on the London Cemetery Board for 24 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; two brothers and one grandson.
William H. "Bill" Tiffany, 85, of Pepin, died Tuesday at Pepin Manor where he resided the last year and a half. He was born Feb. 21, 1924, in the Nelson area, a son of the late H.O. and Marguerite (Sadden) Tiffany. Bill married Betty F. Blanchard in February of 1950 in Cresco, Iowa. Betty preceded Bill in death in February of 1987. On Nov. 5, 1988, Bill was united in marriage to Janice Ender at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin. Many in the surrounding communities will remember Bill during the 1950s for his ownership days at the Ford Garage in Pepin, Wis.
