River towns from Stillwater to Red Wing are expected to see water levels rise over the next few days, though forecasts are not showing flood stage being reached. The St. Croix River in Stillwater was at 80 feet Thursday morning and was expected to crest at about 85 feet early Sunday, according to to the National Weather Service . Flood stage there is at 87 feet.

LAKE PEPIN -- A state panel last week permanently closed commercial gill-net fishing on Lake Pepin. The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board voted Wednesday, June 22, to prohibit the fishing method, which officials say has led to protected and threatened fish being killed off in the Mississippi River basin.
The search for a missing Maiden Rock woman ended Thursday when her body was found in a car at the scene of an apparent crash. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as 64-year-old Kathleen J. McCabe. Deputies were alerted to the crash at 11:08 a.m. Thursday on Highway 35 just south of County Road D in the town of Isabelle.
