Perham (No. 5 in Class AA), Frazee (No. 2 in Class A) and Litchfield (No. 10 in Class AA) took the top-three spots in the 16-team tournament.

On Thursday, the Knights head to Pine Island for a triangular with Cannon Falls.

Lake City fourth at Tartan invite

Maple River cruised to a title with 224.5 points on Saturday at the Clash of the Titans Invitational at Tartan High School. Lake City took fourth with 142. Lakeville North (178) and Grand Meadow-LeRoy Ostrander-Kingsland-Southland (171.5) were second and third.

The Tigers got a champion in the 132-pound bracket when Tanner Frank beat Javen Guzik-McNeil of Cretin-Derham Hall by a 2-1 score. Max Balow lost a major decision at 170, and Ivan Vargas dropped a 3-1 decision at 195 in Lake City's other two title matches.

On Thursday, the Tigers and Byron will meet at top-ranked (Class AA) Kasson-Mantorville for a triangular.

Cannon Falls eighth, Pine Island 12th

Hutchinson lapped the field on Saturday, taking home the Cannon Falls Invitational title with 253 points. Second-place Dover-Eyota (121) tied Byron, but won the tiebreaker by virtue of more place-winners. The host Bombers finished eighth with 86.5 points, and Pine Island was 12th with 69.

Erwin Strelow won the 113-pound title for Cannon Falls, pinning his opponent in 1 minute, 59 seconds.

The Panthers got a championship at 170 when Matt Riley won a 16-2 major decision. Pine Island also got a third-place finish from Dawson Falls at 132.

On Thursday, Cannon Falls hosts Pine Island and Kenyon-Wanamingo.

Goodhue thumps Byron

Through four weights, Byron held a 10-point lead over Goodhue. But the Wildcats would lose just once more in a 55-19 victory over the Bears on Friday.

With the exception of a major decision from Mason Huemann at 170 pounds, Goodhue earned six points in eight of nine matches. Mariano Bigalk, Baxter O'Reilly, Kelby O'Reilly, Kaleb O'Reilly, Kodee O'Reilly, Ryan Schoenfelder and Jacob Brinkman all won by fall while Travis Gadient won by forfeit.

On Thursday, the sixth-ranked Wildcats will visit top-ranked Zumbrota-Mazeppa in a Class A showdown that could be a preview of the Section 1A championship.
