Wrestling: Lake City falls late to Stewartville
Stewartville took advantage of two late forfeits for a 36-33 victory over Lake City on Thursday.
At 106 pounds, Mason West put Lake City up 6-0 with a fall, and the Tigers got six more points and a 12-0 lead with Nash Nelson's forfeit victory at 113.
Stewartville cut the score to 12-8 over the next two bouts before Tanner Frank won by decision at 132. Two more Stewartville wins, a fall and a major, put Lake City in an 18-15 hole.
Lake City answered with a decision from Derek Meincke at 152 and a fall from Thomas Frank at 160. Stewartville then won one more match, at 182 by fall, with Max Balow winning by fall at 182 and Ivan Vargas winning in overtime at 285 closing out Lake City's wins. But those could not overcome Lake City's forfeits at 195 and 220.
K-W splits home tri
Kenyon-Wanamingo split a triangular on Thursday, beating Byron, 56-24, but losing to Plainview-Elgin-Millville, 51-24.
Owen Scheffler (106 pounds), Jeron Matson (120), Nate Bauer (152) and Jesse Jackson (285) all won both of their matches.
The Knights will host an invitational on Saturday, Dec. 16.
