Volleyball: Wingers swept by Panthers

The Red Wing volleyball team fell in three sets against a strong Rochester Century team on Thursday.

The Wingers (4-12) lost a close first set 25-18, lost the second set 25-14 and lost another close set 25-20.

"Century has some very strong hitters, that had us scrambling all night," Red Wing head volleyball coach Lindsay Woychek said. "By the end of the match we were getting some blocks and making some impressive digs."

Top performers include: Dani Deming (16 digs), Meg Grove (five blocks), and Savannah Bryan (10 assists and one ace).


John Marshall 3, Red Wing 0

Red Wing struggled to overcome an early deficit, losing to Rochester John Marshall 3-0 on Tuesday.

The Wingers dropped the first and second sets 25-16 and 25-15, before losing a spirited third set 25-23.

Elle Thorson and Hannah Rodgers each tallied two blocks while Kate Sonju led the teak with six kills.
