Area Volleyball: Kenyon-Wanamingo extends winning streak

Kenyon-Wanamingo continued its hot streak with a 3-0 win over Pine Island on Thursday.

K-W won the first two sets by a 25-20 score, and finished the sweep with a 25-12 win in the third set.

Kasandra Keller led the team defensively with 17 digs, while Julianna Boyum and Ally Peterson each recorded a game-high 16 kills.

With the win, the Knights (16-6, 6-2 Hiawatha Valley) extended its winning streak to four matches.

Randolph 3, Glenville Emmons 0

Randolph pulled off a sweep of Glenville Emmons on Thursday, winning 3-0.

The Rockets (5-8) won 25-13, 25-16 and 25-15.

Individual statistics were unavailable.


Kenyon-Wanamingo 3, Lake City 0

Lake City battled but came up short in all three sets, losing to Kenyon-Wanamingo on Tuesday 3-0.

The Tigers fell 25-22 in the first set, 25-15 in the second, and 25-21 in the third.

Kenyon-Wanamingo was led by Ally Peterson (19 kills) and Madi Luebke (20 assists). Olivia Pennington recorded eight kills for the Tigers and Grace Bany added seven kills.

With the loss, Lake City dropped its third match in a row.

Randolph 3, Schaeffer Academy 2

After falling in two consecutive sets, Randolph came back to win the final two sets in a 3-2 win over Schaeffer Academy on Tuesday.

Randolph narrowly took the first set 26-24, lost the second and third sets 25-20 and 25-23, respectively, before winning 25-16 in the fourth set and 15-10 in the final set.

Top performers for the Rockets include: Megan Erickson with 15 kills, two blocks and 13 digs, Meredith Taylor with 26 digs, and Morgyn Otte (six aces, 19 assists, eight digs, and seven kills).
