A slow start for the Wingers lead to a 3-1 loss against visiting Rochester Mayo on Thursday.
Red Wing had a difficult time in the first set, dropping it 25-13, but closed the gap in the second, although it still led to a 25-18 loss. The Wingers won the third set, 25-19, but lost the fourth to close out the night, 25-17.
Elle Thorson led the team with nine kills and three blocks, while Eva Hutter had a team-high 19 digs. Dani Deming also had double-digit digs with 13. Macy Koester kept the offense moving with 22 assists.
"Macy (Koester) did a nice job of spreading the offense around tonight," Red Wing head volleyball coach Lindsay Woychek said. "Elle Thorson had a great game at the net. Mayo had a lot of strong hitters that kept us off balance all match."
Red Wing next travels to Cotter for a tournament on Saturday.
