Boys Tennis: Wingers change lineup, defeats Lake City

The Red Wing boys' tennis team hosted Lake City on Monday and came away victorious, 4-3.

The Wingers made a change to its lineup on Saturday and kept those changes against the Tigers. The moves bumped Kris Betcher and Prince Montcho up to No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. This made Lincoln Bryan and Aidan Coyle the No. 2 doubles team and Jackson Hull and Graham Achen the No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.

With the changes, Red Wing swept the doubles matches and got one victory in singles.

Jackson Hull recorded his first career win in singles at No. 3, 6-2, 6-4(4). In doubles, the No. 1 team of Logan Johnson and Coby Castner won 6-2, 6-0, the No. 2 team of Aidan Coyle and Lincoln Bryan won 6-0, 6-0, and the No. 3 team of Noah Richardson and Nathan Farrar won 6-0, 6-0.

Red Wing will be back in action on Tuesday at Northfield.


Mankato East 5, Red Wing 2

The Red Wing boys' tennis team traveled to Mankato East on Saturday morning and came away with a 5-2 loss.

Red Wing was able to win 2-of-3 doubles matches, but lost all four singles.

The No. 1 doubles team of Logan Johnson and Coby Castner won 6-3, 6-0, while Bryan and Coyle also won 6-3, 6-0. Noah Richardson and Nathan Farrar nearly made it a clean doubles sweep after winning the first set 6-2, but dropped the second set 4-6 and the tiebreaker 3-6.

JM 7, Red Wing 0

The Wingers also faced Rochester John Marshall while in Mankato on Saturday and were swept 7-0.
