Boys Tennis: Wingers can’t keep momentum going against Huskies

Thursday’s matchup with Owatonna. Instead the Wingers found themselves on the other end of a sweep at the hands of the Huskies.

The No. 1 doubles team of Coby Castner and Logan Johnson were the only Wingers to win a set. They took the first set 6-4 before dropping both the second set 4-6 and the tiebreaker 5-10.

Red Wing will next take to the courts on Tuesday at Mississippi National against Schaeffer Academy.


Red Wing 7, Faribault 0

On back-to-back days of conference tennis matchups, Red Wing proved it was up to the task of bouncing back from a tough day on the courts on Monday when it defeated Faribault, 7-0, on Tuesday.

The Wingers received victories at No. 1 singles from Lincoln Bryan, who won (7-6, 6-2) and took the 7-4 tiebreaker. Also in singles, Aidan Coyle at No. 2 won (6-0, 7-5), No. 3 Kris Betcher won (6-2, 6-1), and No. 4 Prince Moncho won (6-2, 6-4).

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Castner and Johnson won (6-0, 7-5), while the No. 2 team of Jackson Hull and Graham Achen won (7-6, 6-4) while taking the tiebreaker, 7-4. Noah Richardson and Nathan Farrar swept No. 3 doubles with 6-0, 6-0 victories.
