Boys Tennis: Winona tops Wingers in opener

The Red Wing boys' tennis team finally got to face an opponent, but Winona edged the Wingers, 4-3, on Thursday.

Lincoln Bryan got the only win in singles play for Red Wing with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Ian Loos at the No. 2 spot. In doubles, Coby Castner as Logan Johnson picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win as the top pair, while Graham Achen and Prince Mancho won 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3.

Only one other match went three sets, and it was a battle for the team win. At No. 3 singles, Drew Lechler edged Winger Kris Betcher 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 to seal the win for the Winhawks.

Saturday's triangular with Rochester Mayo at Mankato East has been postponed, so Red Wing's next outing is at home, Tuesday, against Albert Lea. Should that also be pushed back, a trip to Rochester to face Century is scheduled for Thursday.
