Girls Swim and Dive: Wingers take third at JFK Invite, win eight events

Red Wing traveled to Bloomington on Saturday for the JFK Invite and wrapped up the day's events with a third-place score of 458.

Farmington won the meet with 860 team points, while New Prague came in second with 602.

Despite not winning as a team, the Wingers had success throughout, achieving eight wins.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Grace O'Brien, Sophie Carlson, Cecelia DeJong and Teegan Beyers took first place with a time of 1 minute, 58.51 seconds. Other first-place finishers included: Beyers in the 50 freestyle (25.99 seconds) and 100 freestyle (57.89), DeJong in the 100-yard butterfly (59.80), O'Brien in the 500 freestyle (5:50.83) and 100 backstroke (1:08.45), Sammy Kriese in the 100 breastroke (1:14.30), and the 400 freestyle relay team of Beyers, O'Brien, Madison Beyers and DeJong (3:57.47).

Red Wing has an extended break between meets, next hosting Rochester John Marshall on Thursday, Sept. 20.
