Area Boys Soccer: Lake City stifled in opener
The Lake City boys' soccer team had a difficult time keeping St. Charles off the scoreboard in its home opener on Thursday, falling 7-2.
St. Charles got ahead early, taking a 5-1 lead into halftime. The Tigers' lone goal of the first half came from Chris Lewis, assisted by Mitchel Medvec.
Lake City settled in after the start of the second half with a goal from Medvec (assisted by Aidan Palmer) but the deficit was too large to overcome. St. Charles tallied two more goals in the second half.
Aaron Meincke recorded seven saves for the Tigers. Caleb Bahr of St. Charles made 17 saves.
Lake City hosts its second game of the season on Monday against Plainview-Elgin-Millville.
