The Red Wing boys hockey team's season came to a close with an 8-1 loss to Minnehaha Academy on Tuesday.

Outshot 37-16, the Wingers were not able to make the attempts they did get off count as the Redhawks' Corey Hendrickson consistently kept the goal clean.

Minnehaha Academy got the scoring started with a short-handed goal by Cole Knutson, 6 minutes, 55 seconds into the game. Bryce Becker tallied a power-play goal, and Knutson added his second goal to increase the Redhawks lead to 3-0.

Red Wing finally got on the board at 16:13 with a Cam Blue goal, assisted by Taite Luhman and Jack Nevitt, to wrap up the first-period scoring.

The Redhawks continued to increase their lead in the second period. Knutson recorded a hat trick just 1:21 into the second, followed by a Josh Roberts goal, and another short-handed tally, this time by Reed Bartelings, stretching the Wingers deficit to 6-1.

Eli Smith recorded a goal 3:29 into the third period and Knutson notched his fourth goal of the game before time expired.

Zach Harding made 29 saves for the Wingers.
