Girls Hockey: Wingers win seventh-straight

Red Wing beat Mankato West on Saturday, and is now on a season-beat seven-game winning streak.

Sophie Schafer and Taylor Heise scored in the first period for the Wingers, who held the Scarlets to just one shot on goal in the first 18 minutes.

Heise opened the second with two-straight goals, the first taking all of 8 seconds. Kendal Swanson added a third goal in the middle frame for a five-goal Red Wing lead.

Courtney Bloemke had two third-period goals for Mankato West, while Heise and Solveig Roth scored for the Wingers.

Tyler McGrath stopped 19 of 21 shots to pick up the win in net.

Red Wing (19-4) completes its three-game road trip on Tuesday at Albert Lea, then returns home for the final regular season game on Thursday against Mankato East.
