Girls Hockey: Farmington drops Red Wing to third-place game
Five different Tigers scored in Farmington's 5-0 win over Red Wing on Thursday in the semifinals of the Louis Schmitz Holiday Classic in Farmington.
Claire Enright put the Tigers on top for good 10 minutes, 10 seconds into the first period, and Jayden Seifert, Gabriella Hudson and Eleanor Moser made it 4-0 in the second period. Breanna Fuhrman go the game's final goal at 5:46 of the third.
Winger goalie Tyler McGrath faced an onslaught of 54 shots, saving 49 in the loss. On the other end, Abby Bollig saw just 13 shots in her shutout victory.
Red Wing 5, Hastings 1
Red Wing entered the Louis Schmitz Holiday Classic in Farmington on a four-game winning streak. The Wingers added to that with a 5-1 victory over Hastings on Wednesday.
After a scoreless first period, Taylor Heise scored the game's first two goals, and Emily Hart got the third to give Red Wing a 3-0 lead heading into the second intermission.
Elle Bryant and Nicole Oberding made it 5-0 early in the third before Josie Kummer erased the shutout for the Raiders.
Hart, Heise and Oberding each had two assists in the game, and Bryant added one to give the Wingers four girls with multiple points.
