Cross-Country: Wingers post another winning effort

The Red Wing boys' cross-country team topped the leaderboard again on Thursday with 54 points. The Wingers came in 31 points ahead of second-place Winona.

Leading the way was Tom Nemanich's third-place finish with a time of 16 minutes, 29.4 seconds.

Other top finishers for Red Wing included: Jonah Leise (sixth, 16:55.3), Bryan Zucker (ninth, 17:10.2), Tucker Wallin (12th, 17:16.3) and Skyler Bennyhoff (24th, 17:44.2).


The girls' team had another strong day with a middle-of-the-pack finish of 13th. Red Wing concluded the meet with 344 points, two ahead of 14th-place Eastview and 18 behind 12th-place Northfield.

Sammi Chandler was the Wingers' top finisher with a 41st-place showing of 21:27.5. Grace Dube took 44th (21:41.6), Tori Leitner placed 48th (21:49.1), Jasmyn Armstrong took 99th (23:25.1) and Sydnee Nelson was 112th (23:55.7).

Next up for Red Wing is a trip to New Prague on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
