The Red Wing boys' and girls' cross-country teams had a strong showing on Thursday at the Dewey Minnaert Invite in Hastings, with both teams coming away with a win.
The five scorers of the boys' team all finished inside the top-10 with Tom Nemanich leading the way with a second-place overall time of 16 minutes, 18.15 seconds. Sitting one spot behind him was teammate Weston Wyatt (16:28.97). Red Wing then had the six through eight runners in Tucker Wallin (16:37.17), Jonah Leise (16:41.17) and Bryan Zucker (16:48.83).
Red Wing totaled 26 points as a team, 40 better than second-place East Ridge.
The girls' team fared just as well although the margin wasn't nearly as wide. Red Wing held just over a 10-second lead as a team over second-place East Ridge, which scored 58 total points compared to Red Wing's 53.
Grace Johnson of Red Wing was the overall meet winner with a time of 19:05.08. The Wingers then had four runners score inside the top-15. Arianna Mollgaard took 10th (20:45.71), Tori Leitner (13th, 20:56.63), Sammi Chandler (14th, 21:01.55) and Grace Dube (15th, 21:01.95).
