Girls' Basketball: Red Wing splits with Northfield, West
The Red Wing girls’ basketball team hung on to win 63-62 over Northfield on Friday.
Red Wing held a 32-29 lead at halftime and played a tight second half as Northfield outscored the Wingers 33-31 over the final 18 minutes.
Kylie Nelson paced the Wingers offensively with 25 points, shooting 7 of 11 from behind the 3-point arc and 8 of 15 from the field. Sydney Rahn led the Wingers with nine rebounds and Lindsey Reps scored 19 points with a team-high five assists.
Red Wing improved to 4-1 overall and next plays Faribault on Tuesday.
The Red Wing girls' basketball team lost 55-53 to Mankato West in a tightly contested game on Tuesday.
The Wingers trailed 34-32 at halftime and matched Mankato West's 21 points in the second half.
Red Wing was led offensively by Kylie Nelson. Nelson scored a game-high 18 points and recorded three assists. Lindsay Reps bucketed 13 points and tied Elle Thorson for the team lead in assists with five, while Abi Deming led the Wingers with 10 rebounds.
