Girls Basketball: Wingers need OT to overcome Tigers

Red Wing needed all of regulation and then some to take care of a hot shooting Stewartville team. The Tigers shot 53 percent from the floor, 57 percent from behind the arc, but still came up short as the Wingers pulled out the victory, 61-57, on Friday.

The Wingers were led by Lindsay Reps with 25 points and Tayzha Buck with 16. Abi Deming nabbed 14 rebounds as the starting five played the majority of the minutes in this long affair.

The win puts Red Wing at 17-4 overall and 13-4 in the Big Nine Conference. Next up, the Wingers host Faribault at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A big night from the Red Wing girls basketball team's bench allowed them to take care of Albert Lea, 60-44, on Thursday. With 27, the Wingers bench scored nearly half of the team's points.

Lindsay Reps led the way with 11 points, Abi Deming had 10 and Tayzha Buck had 9. Deming nearly came away with a double-double, leading the team with nine rebounds.

Defensively, the Wingers were strong, coming away with nine steals and allowing only one Tigers scorer to get into double-digit points — Turena Schultz with 14.
