Girls Basketball: Goodhue fends off Cannon Falls
Cannon Falls proved a worthy opponent on Friday, but Goodhue was too tough to take down. The Wildcats won the Hiawatha Valley League bout, 59-43.
Arianna Thomforde had a game-high 20 points for Goodhue, while Sydney Lodermeier added 16 points and seven rebounds.
Kaly Banks led the Bombers with 16 points, and Tatum Pickar added 10 in the loss.
Saturday, Cannon Falls (9-14) hosts Christ's Household of Faith while Goodhue (18-5) will take the long bus ride to face Lyle/Pacelli.
Lourdes 80, Lake City 55
Lake City could not slow down the Lourdes' duo of Alyssa Ustby and Wynter Bergner in an 80-55 Eagles' victory on Friday.
Ustby scored a game-high 27 points, and Bergner followed with 24, as the Rochester school ended the Tigers' four-game winning streak.
Grace Bany had 14 points, and Morgan West 13, for Lake City (11-10), which heads to Stewartville on Tuesday.
Z-M 75, K-W 50
Kenyon-Wanamingo could not keep up with Zumbrota-Mazeppa as the Cougars came away with a 75-50 victory on Friday.
Ali Hunstad and Lauren Miller led Z-M with 20 points apiece while Lyndsey Quam had 16 and Natalye Quam had 10 to round out the Cougars scoring.
The Knights were led by Riley Dummer and Tess Hokanson, each with 14 points.
The win brings the Cougars to 17-6, 9-5 in the Hiawatha Valley League where they will host Cannon Falls on Tuesday.
The Knights fall to 6-15, 3-10 in the HVL and will host Hayfield on Tuesday.
