Boys Basketball Wrap: Randolph fights back to beat Pine Island
Pine Island surged out to an 11-point lead on Monday, but Randolph fought back to win the game, 49-40.
Carsyn Gunderson scored 15 points to lead the Rockets, while Dane Ehleringer and Nick Drinken both added 10.
The Panthers got 13 points from Jacob Weber, and 10 each from Jacob Olson and Max Owen.
Randolph (13-4) will welcome Houston to town on Tuesday, while Pine Island (5-10) heads to Byron.
Lake City 84, Prescott 77
Lake City logged a lot of miles on Saturday, but the Tigers return trip home was a good one after an 84-77 victory over Prescott, Wis. in the Wisconsin vs. Minnesota Border Battle at Stevens Point High School.
Lake City was led by three players who each scored at least 21 points. Marc Kjos had a team-high 24 points, followed by Reid Gastner's 22 and Nathan Heise's 21. Zach Bremer had 12 points. Heise had a game-high 11 rebounds, and Kjos had eight assists.
Peter Brookshaw carried the Cardinals with 34 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.
Lake City (14-3) has won five-straight games and will put the streak on the line at Kasson-Mantorville on Tuesday.
Z-M 56, Pine Island 44
Jacob Niebuhr put together a complete game on Saturday, leading Zumbrota-Mazeppa to a 56-44 Hiawatha Valley League victory over Pine Island.
Niebuhr scored 13 points, pulled down seven rebounds and added four assists in the win. Isaiah Nolte led the Cougars with 16 points, and Robvon Jackson and Willy Heitman each added eight.
Dane Loucks was the only Panther in double-digits with 11 points to go with six rebounds.
Z-M (12-5) hosts Goodhue on Tuesday while Pine Island (5-10) heads to Byron.
