Boys Basketball: Red Wing falls in third-place game


In the third-place game of the Red Wing tip-off tournament, Hudson ended up edging the host Wingers in a high-scoring affair Saturday, 66-60, at Sonju Gymnasium.

The Red Wing loss came despite a 31-point performance from senior guard Seth Yeatman, who finished 11 of 21 from the field and a perfect 6 of 6 from the free-throw line. He also finished with five rebounds and a pair of steals.

Behind Yeatman, Zach Cota came up with 11 points and two steals, and Nathan Carlson added eight points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks in the loss.

In the championship game of the tip-off tournament, Hastings held off Stewartville for a 69-65 win.

At 0-2 to start the year, Red Wing opens the Big Nine Conference schedule Friday at Rochester Century (0-1).
