Baseball: Red Wing rallies to beat Northfield
The Red Wing baseball team trailed Northfield by three runs in the top of the seventh, but scored four to win 9-8 on Friday.
Jack Carlson started the rally with a one-out single. Dez LeTexier was hit by a pitch, Deso Buck singled and Taite Luhman reached on an error. Carlson scored on the error that allowed Luhman to reach safely. LeTexier scored during Ben Kuehni’s at-bat on a wild pitch to get the Wingers to within a run.Alec Borgon drove in the tying run and Luhman scored the go-ahead run on an error.
The seventh-inning rally gave Bear Blaney the win in relief. Blaney allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out two in 3 ⅓ innings.
Red Wing’s game Saturday against Hill-Murray was postponed. The Wingers next host St. Cloud Tech on Monday.
With Red Wing leading 4-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth, Owatonna scored six runs to take a 7-4 lead. The Wingers baseball team failed to score in the seventh and lost 7-4 on Tuesday.
The Wingers jumped ahead of Owatonna with three runs in the third and one in the fourth. After a walk and an error, Marcus Walm hit a three-run home run to left field. Alec Borgen doubled home Deso Buck in the fourth.
The Wingers were unable to string together any base runners after the fourth inning. Owatonna pitching allowed just two walks after the fourth.
Ben Kuehni pitched five innings and gave up four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six. Walm took the loss in relief.
