Area Baseball: Cannon Falls remains perfect in HVL
Cannon Falls won 5-4 over Goodhue in the final inning on Thursday.
The Bombers trailed 4-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh. Luke Sjoquist scored the winning run to move the Bombers to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the HVL.
Soquist led the Bombers at the plate with two hits, two stolen bases, an RBI and the winning run.
Wildcat Ethan Schafer pitched six and ⅔, striking out 10 batters.
Goodhue fell to 1-4 overall.
It took extra innings, but Goodhue defeated Kenyon-Wanamingo 4-3 in 11 innings on Tuesday.
The Knights scored first with three runs in the fourth inning. The Wildcats responded with three runs in the sixth to tie the game. The game remained tied until the bottom of the 11th when the Wildcats pushed across the winning run.
Garret Grove drove two runs for the Knights, while Luke Berg drove in a run.
Carter Danielson and Jay Dicke each had three hits for the Wildcats. Carson Morken drove in a team-high two RBI.
Cannon Falls 14, Belle Plaine 4
Cannon Falls capitalized on Belle Plaine 11 errors and racked up the runs. The Bombers ended the game in the sixth inning after getting a 10-run lead.
Bomber Jack Dommeyer went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Nathan Stein went 2-for-4, including a double, while scoring two runs.
Stewartville 11, Lake City 1
Stewartville jumped ahead with a 7-run third inning and never looked back. Stewartville scored at least a run in every inning thereafter, scoring one in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Zach Sharpen led the Tigers with two hits and three strikeouts in three and ⅓ innings on the mound.
