Girls Basketball: Bombers edge out Knights

Cannon Falls got back in the win column by stealing a victory against visiting Kenyon-Wanamingo, with a final score of 44-41.

The two teams were all knotted up at 22-22 heading into the half. The second half played out in similar fashion, but the Bombers were able to come away with a few more points to edge out the Knights.

Isabelle Freeberg had a team-high 16 points for the Bombers, followed by Kira Jacobson with 10. Kara Loeschke and Jacobson tied for the lead with five rebounds each, while Kalysa Banks led the team with five assists.

Julianna Boyum led the Knights with 13 points, followed by Riley Dummer with nine and Tess Hokanson with eight. Hokanson also led the team with eight rebounds.

Cannon Falls finished the regular season at 10-16, (4-12) Hiawatha Valley League.

K-W finished its regular season at 6-17 and 3-12 in the HVL.


Z-M 65, Triton 46

Zumbrota-Mazeppa finished its regular season slate on a high note, winning five straight games after defeating Triton, 65-46, on Thursday.

Lyndsey Quam led the way for the Cougars by scoring 19 points, followed by Ali Hunstad with 15, Makayla Arendt 12 and Lauren Miller 10.

Kiara Boeck was the only player scoring in double digits for the Cobras, finishing with 11 points.

Z-M finished its regular season at 19-6 and 11-5 in the HVL.
