The Red Wing 200-yard medley relay qualified for state with a time of 1 minute, 52.24 seconds. Grace O'Brien, Sammy Kriese, Cecelia De Jong and Teegan Beyers placed third overall for the Wingers, who had girls in seven finals in the Section 1A championship Friday in Rochester.
De Jong also qualified in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.52, which was good for second place.
"The girls raced with their hearts today, they really wanted it," said Red Wing head coach Mikayla Beuch. "The girls took full advantage of their opportunity today. I'm really proud of them."
As a team, the Wingers finished with 169 points, good for seventh place. Northfield was the section champion with 435 points, followed by Faribault (377), Mankato West (279), Winona (196) and St. Peter (177).
The 400 freestyle relay of Beyers, O'Brien, Kriese and De Jong placed third with a time of 3:48.20, missing the state cut of 3:45.34.
O'Brien swam in a pair of finals on Friday, placing fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:33.70) and eighth in the 100 backstroke (1:05.06). Kriese was fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.19) and Beyers placed seventh in the 50 freestyle in 25.31.
In diving, Riley Marty compiled a score of 240.30, good for 13th place. Carli King added a 14th-place score of 237.30.
The Class A state meet will take place this week at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, with diving prelims Thursday, swim prelims Friday and culminating with the state championship meet at noon on Nov. 18.
