Girls Tennis: Lakeville North ends Wingers' team season

Third-seeded Lakeville North dropped 14th-seeded Red Wing, 7-0, on Tuesday in the first round of the Section 1AA tournament.

The Panthers swept every match, and did not lose more than two games in any of them.

The Wingers end the season 2-14, with the individual section tournament beginning Oct. 12.


Red competed in the Big Nine Conference meet on Saturday, where Rochester Mayo backed up its 11-0 league record with a conference tournament title.

The Wingers saw some success on the courts, with Graci Bettich, Rachel Borgen and Jenna Siewert all going 1-1 on the day in singles matches.

Solveig Roth and Maria Haley went 1-1 at No. 2 doubles, while Ellie and Isabell Schlangen did the same at No. 3 doubles.

Chloe Struss was 0-2, as was the top pairing of Mya Benway and Megan Jeranek.
