Girls Soccer: Red Wing rolls through Cannon Falls

Five different players scored goals for Red Wing on Monday night, helping the Wingers to a second straight victory with a 7-0 non-conference win at Cannon Falls.

Gabby Magill and Camille DeSutter both scored a pair of goals while Red Wing also got scores from Matea Simonson, Salina Loer and Ashten Chandler as the team produced 22 shots on goal.

At goalkeeper, Ashlyn Nystuen came up with three saves, all in the first half as the Wingers’ defense shut down the Bombers in the second half.

“We were clicking on all eight cylinders,” said Red Wing head coach David Thurston. “We had good through balls with our runners going. We had great buildup from the back, great overlaps, and our passing through the middle was fantastic. And the defense was phenomenal; they really clamped down in the second half.”

The Wingers (3-7) have their next two games at home against Big Nine Conference opponents: against Owatonna Tuesday and Mankato West Thursday.
