Aces notch CCVL victory over Randolph
Scoring four runs in the top of the fifth inning, Red Wing picked up a Classic Cannon Valley League win on Sunday, beating Randolph 12-5.
Brodie Smith was the Aces' top hitter, going 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of runs scored. Brady Schroeder was 1-for-5 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBI. Mitch Matter and Josh Thygesen were both 2-for-5, with Thygesen hitting for a double with three RBI and a run scored for Red Wing.
Ben Domagala recorded the win after giving up three runs on nine hits with one strikeout and two walks over six innings.
For the Railcats, Scott Otte finished 2-for-2 with a run scored, Alex Ratzlaff was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored, and Justin King was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Otte was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs (three earned) on seven hits and eight walks with one strikeout.
Dodge County 2, Red Wing 0
Held to three hits on Friday, Red Wing's offense just couldn't get going in a 2-0 loss to the Dodge County Diamondbacks in Red Wing.
All three of the Aces hits, from Brodie Smith, Corey Tauer and Josh Thygesen, were singles.
Taking the loss was Seth Morem, who gave up one run on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts in four innings of work.
Miesville 12, Rochester Royals 0
With Jacob Dickmeyer limiting the Rochester Royals to four hits in a six-strikeout, complete-game shutout, Miesville cruised to a 10-0 non-league victory Friday in Rochester.
The Mudhens finished with 18 hits, led by Nate Hammes and Brian Sprout, who both were 3-for-6 at the plate. Sprout had a double and two RBI while Hammes drove in a run and crossed home twice. Matt Van Der Bosch, Andrew Werner, Joey Werner and Jordy Horsch all finished with two hits apiece for Miesville.
Wanamingo 4, Lake City 2
With two runs in both the second and fifth innings, Wanamingo secured a 4-2 win at non-league foe Lake City on Friday.
Eric Sviggum was the catalyst of the Jacks' offense, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Brady Anfinson was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and was the winning pitcher after allowing one run (unearned) over five hits and one walk with three strikeouts in six innings of work. Noah Grove threw three innings of relief for the save.
