Amateur Baseball: Bears 1-1 in Stearns County; Aces lose to Hampton


Cannon Falls 10, Avon 3

Cannon Falls ended its Stearns County road trip off with a win Saturday, beating Avon 10-3.

The Bears' top two hitters, Brock Peterson and Alex Tauer, accounted for seven of the team's 18 hits. Peterson was 4-for-6 with a pair of RBI and two runs while Tauer was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Bryce Boyle-Hoban finished 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI. Peter Haggerty also finished with three hits, including a double, with two runs and an RBI.

Coming out of the bullpen, Nathan Overby got the win with two strikeouts in five innings of work. He allowed three runs on five hits and three walks.


Hampton 10, Red Wing 5

Tied 2-2 after two innings, Hampton scored eight straight runs before the Aces got on the board again as the Cardinals picked up a 10-5 Classic Cannon Valley League win Friday night at the Red Wing Athletic Field.

Mitch Matter was a force at the top of the lineup for Red Wing, going 3-for-5 with an RBI. Ty Buck hit an RBI double in the first inning and had a sacrifice fly in the sixth, and Tait Kelly finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.

Spencer Schroeder took the loss after allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits and four walks with one strikeout.

For Hampton, Jordan DeCroock, Rhett Hebig and John Dittman each had a pair of hits, with Dittman driving in five runs in the victory.

Elrosa 12, Cannon Falls 3

Cannon Falls' trek to Stearns County started off shaky with a 12-3 loss to the Elrosa Saints on Friday.

Luke Winchell had three of the Bears' five hits with a double, a run and an RBI, and Braxton Lindow went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.

Jared Woodward was pegged with the loss after allowing seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits with four strikeouts in four innings. Elrosa jumped on Cannon Falls early, leading 7-1 through four innings.
