Amateur Baseball: Bears, Aces lose

Hampton jumped on Cannon Falls early with a run in the top of the first inning. And it would be all the cushion the Cardinals would need with a 2-0 Classic Cannon Valley League win on Wednesday.
 Brock Peterson was the only Cannon Falls player to tally more than one hit, going 2-for-4 at the top of the order. Braxton Lindow, Rich Burr, Tanner Jackson, Keith Meyers and Zeke Williams each got a hit in the loss.  Meyers took the loss after six innings on the mound with six hits, one walk and a pair of runs allowed while striking out five. Quinton Lindow threw three scoreless innings of relief. Ryan Heisler, Brandon Morgan and Rhett Hebig each collected two hits for Hampton. On the mound, Marcus Fredrickson was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts and five hits allowed over 7 1/3 innings.

SundayHampton 12, Red Wing 11Down 11-10 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, Hampton managed to score a pair of runs on Red Wing to sneak away with a 12-11 Classic Cannon Valley League victory Sundayin Hampton.  Jimmy Bohmbach had four of the Aces’ 11 hits, going 4-for-5 with a home run, three runs and two RBI. Tait Kelly also had a home run for Red Wing, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Brady Schroeder was 2-for-4 with a pair of triples and three RBI, and Kyle Blahnik drove in a pair of runs in the loss. Patrick Strey did the most damage for the Cardinals, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and a pair of runs, and Josh Chatfield and Rhett Hebig both had a home run and drove in three runs. 

 JT Cunningham got the start for the Aces, striking out three and giving up six hits, two walks and three runs over six innings. Sam Palmatier was charged with the loss after allowing three hits and a pair of runs in 1/3 of an inning.
