Debra Colleen Wing

Debra Colleen Wing, 62, of Savage, Minnesota transitioned from our earthly world into eternal life with Jesus on April 5, 2019 while returning home from a vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Debra was born on February 9, 1957, the eldest daughter of Donald and Joleen (Eike) Jensen in Newport News, Virginia. After several moves the Jensen family settled in Red Wing, Minnesota. Debra attended Jefferson Elementary School and graduated from Red Wing High School in 1975. As a young girl, Debra enjoyed babysitting her siblings Doug and Kathleen while her parents were building their business Jensen Jewelers in downtown Red Wing. Later she began working at the store and was a tremendous help to the business. After moving to the Twin Cities, she began working at Northwest Orient Credit Union as a bank teller. It was here that she met a young and shy newly employed aircraft mechanic for Northwest Orient in late 1979. After a two-year courtship, Bob and Debra married on the bitterly cold and frigid day of January 16, 1982 in Red Wing, Minnesota. Afterwards, Debra began working for Northwest Airlines in the Accounts Payable department. Debra became a stay at home mom to their son Joseph in 1984 and daughter Jacleen in 1986. Debra was a devoted mother and took the kids on adventures to the zoo, church outings, parks and many other activities. In addition to being a mother, she maintained a clean and orderly home and was an avid gardener. Debra will be remembered as a fun-loving mom who always found joy in everything she did. Debra's friends were also very important in her life, socializing over coffee and lunch dates, going to movies, shopping, and traveling. After the kids were older, Debra joined the work force again as a bank teller at the Savage Wells Fargo and later as a breakfast hostess at the Burnsville Hampton Inn. She really enjoyed working at the Hampton Inn and looked at it not as a job, but an opportunity to meet and talk with the guests, which she really enjoyed. Several years later she went back to being a homemaker and took great pride in her grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted Grandma. Debra had many passions and particularly liked all types of flowers and butterflies taking numerous photos of each. She loved spending time with her family and friends at the Jensen family cabin on Bone Lake in Wisconsin. She was a world traveler and took many trips with family and friends. Debra was dedicated to her Christian faith and had a deep love for Jesus, accepting Him as her lord and savior at a young age. Her memory endures in life by her husband Bob of 37 years; Son Joseph and wife Karen (Skjerven) of Savage, MN; Daughter Jacleen and husband Adam Kedrowski of Shakopee, MN; Grandchildren: Landon 7, Aubree 5, Gunner 3, and Addison 1; Her father Donald Jensen of Inver Grove Heights, MN; Brother Douglas of Mason City, IA; Sister-in-law Laurel and Dan Bram of Mason City, IA; and Martiza the family cat. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and close friends. Debra was greeted in heaven by her mother Joleen Jensen, sister Kathleen Boldt, uncle Reverend David Jensen, grandparents Henry and Borghild Jensen, and her childhood dog Angie. A celebration of life for Debra will be held on April 25, 2019 at Berean Baptist Church, 309 County Road 42 East, Burnsville, MN. The family will receive guests starting at 9:30 AM and the service will begin at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow and all are welcome to attend.
