Pearl Grob Bjork

Pearl Grob Bjork (100) of Pepin WI died April 17 at Advent Health in Durand Wi. She was born April 20,1918 in Alma, WI; daughter of John and Elizabeth (Obrecht) Grob. Pearl graduated from Alma High School. After graduation she went to work at Winona General Hospital as a switchboard operator. She loved to dance and there she met the love of her life, William (Bill) Bjork. They were married on October 9, 1940 in Winona. They lived a short time in Genona, WI until Bill was transferred to Dairyland Power Plant in Alma WI. Pearl was a people person and worked as a waitress at the Alma Hotel and later the Pepin Hotel. She also worked as Deputy Clerk of Court in Alma and at Bautch Insurance Company. After Bill retired they moved to Austin, Texas where Pearl worked for the IRS. Upon returning to Wisconsin they made their home in Pepin. She was a volunteer at Pepin Grade School and Pepin Manor. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pearl is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Church of Pepin, two sons, William (Dorothy) of Stockholm, WI and Thomas (Jackie) of Beaver Dam WI, daughter-in-law Mitzi Bjork of Goodhue, MN. Six grandchildren, David (Sally) Bjork of DePere, WI, Eric (Vicki) Bjork of Stockholm, WI; Jennifer (Mark) Bocksell of Stockholm, WI; Paul (Dawn) Bjork of Horicon, WI; Stephanie Bjork (Thinh Le) of Phoenix AZ; Angela (Michael) Fetzer of Pepin; Mitzi's children, Alan (Heather) Fjerstad; Thomas (Rachel) Ryan; Jennifer Ryan, Shaun Ryan and many great grandchildren.

Pearl is preceded in death by her husband, William, her son, Jeffrey, her son-in-law Allan Church; her brother Ralph Grob and her sisters Gladys Fetting and Ethel Denk.
