Margaret "Peg" Lucille Salmonson, 80, of Red Wing, died Sunday, April 14, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 21, 1939, in Red Wing, to William "W J" and Margaret (Nylon) Wiederholt. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School. On June 22, 1960 she married Robert "Bob" Salmonson at the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing. For two years, the couple lived in Anchorage, Alaska while Bob was in the military. They then returned home to Red Wing where they were a part of the community for more than 55 years. Peg worked at 3M, NSP, First National Bank of Alaska, Riviera Cabinet Co., Bowen Enterprises and assisted in the opening of Red Wing Stoneware Co. She was also the manager of Irish Macushlas' Shop, a job that took her to Ireland 6 times. Peg was very proud of her Irish heritage and apart from her travels with her job, Bob also took her to Ireland on a 3-week adventure. She was active with the Red Wing Irish Community and had been crowned Queen Colleen XXVII. Peg enjoyed entertaining and decorating her home for the holidays and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband, Bob of Red Wing, children; Amy (Kevin) Smith, Jon (Vonnie) Salmonson of Cannon Falls and Lori (John) Bowen of Red Wing; grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Davis, Noah and Conor Salmonson and Matt, Mike and Megan Bowen; great-granddaughter, Chloe Davis and one sister, Eileen Broze of Red Wing.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Catherine Thygesen and Raymond Wiederholt.

Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas M. Kommers presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the Red Wing Public Library. Online condolences may be left for the family at
