Edward R. Wenzel

Edward R. Wenzel, 63, Red Wing, MN passed away at his home peacefully surrounded by family on April 9, 2019 in Red Wing.

He was born in Red Wing on August 29, 1955 to Paul and Alma Wenzel. He was raised on a farm near Vasa, and was part of the last graduating class from Vasa Grade School in 1968. He graduated from Red Wing in 1973, and went on to farm with his brother and dad from 1978-1985. He married Doris Davis of Cannon Falls on April 12, 1980.

Together Ed and Doris started Wenzel Appraisals, Inc. in 1989 and loved appraising homes, farms, and businesses in SE MN and Western WI, having been in over 40,000 properties. During his career, Ed attained his IFA (Independent Fee Appraiser) and ASA (Accredited Senior Appraiser) designations. In 1998, he was awarded with the Rochester Chapter Appraiser of the Year Award and in 1999-2000 was recognized as the Appraiser of the Year for the MN Chapter of NAIFA (National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers).

He was very active at New River Assembly of God where he served many years as a deacon, in children's ministry, and taught numerous classes. His greatest passion was to see others experience the life-changing power of Jesus. He also loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. His favorite activities were road trips with his wife and golfing.

He is survived by his children, Nicholas Wenzel (Jennifer) of Idaho Falls, Abby Schroeder (Chris) of Red Wing, Peter Wenzel (Lindsay) of Red Wing, and 8 grandchildren, Oliver, Sophia, Arthur, Logan, Scarlett, Parker, Walter and Allison. 3 brothers, Bill Wenzel (Mary) of Cottage Grove, Dave Wenzel of Lake City and John Wenzel (Janelle) of Newalla, OK and 1 sister, Mary Holmen (Orrie) of Flower Mound, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 18th 4 pm - 8 pm at New River Assembly of God, 240 Spates Ave, Red Wing, MN. Funeral will be Friday, April 19th at 10 am at New River Assembly of God, 240 Spates Ave, Red Wing, MN.
