Girls Basketball: Wingers head into new year on high note

In the final game of 2017, Tayzha Buck and Red Wing picked up its fourth straight win in a 68-43 victory over Austin Tuesday at Sonju Gymnasium.

Buck was 10 of 16 shooting, including 6 of 11 from 3-point range, as part of a game-high 27 points. She also grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists and had four steals in the victory. Behind her, Lindsay Reps finished with 17 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals. Abi Deming controlled the paint with 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.

As a team, the Wingers out-rebounded Austin 39-21, including a 14-5 advantage in offensive boards.

The Packers had 11 points from both Kyra Walters and Emily Hegna.

Ending 2017 with a 7-1 record (4-1 Big Nine), the Wingers open 2018 on Jan. 2 at home against Albert Lea.
