MSC Southeast and area schools cancel classes for Jan. 22
Numerous area schools will not hold classes Monday, Jan. 22, 2018.
Both Red Wing and Ellsworth districts made the call before 7:30 p.m. Sunday because heavy snow was on the way. On Monday morning, Minnesota State College Southeast joined the list because the storm was imminent. The College closed both the Red Wind and Winona campuses.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning to remain in effect from 3 a.m. Monday to midnight Tuesday.
At 8 p.m. Sunday, forecast was for 5 to 10 inches but conditions were fluctuating.
The list has grown to include:
Monday was already a no-school day for Cannon Falls, Goodhue, Kenyon-Wanamingo, Pine lsland, Randolph and Zumbrota-Mazeppa, which had previously scheduled teacher development activities. The third quarter starts Tuesday in those districts.
