Randal Hemmerlin, executive director of the Red Wing Housing & Redevelopment Authority, has received the 2018 Outstanding Advocacy Award from the Minnesota Housing Partnership. Hemmerlin was recognized for his pioneering efforts on the Affordable Housing Trust Fund in Red Wing and advocating for Local Housing Trust Funds throughout the state of Minnesota.

Hemmerlin's letter of congratulations from the MHP said: "By advocating lawmakers in person and by phone, and by facilitating meetings during which Red Wing leaders could share their perspectives, you have built momentum around the LHTF concept and related legislation."

The 2018 Outstanding Advocate Award was presented to Hemmerlin at the MHP Investors Council on June 14, 2018, in St. Paul. More than 150 representatives of the affordable housing sector in Minnesota were present for the ceremony.
