Charge an electric vehicle in Red Wing

Southeastern Minnesota has experienced a lack of charging stations for those driving electric vehicles. Red Wing is making an effort to change that.

On Monday night, Red Wing City Council unanimously approved the consent agenda, including an item to build an electric vehicle charging station and authorize an application for a grant to pay for the labor portion of the installation. The station will be located in the LaGrange Parking Ramp.

Currently, Kwik Trip on Highway 61 in Red Wing has a charging station. The next closest one outside the metro area is in Lake City.

Meeting watch

Monday's Red Wing City Council meeting lasted 1 hour and 26 minutes. All council members were present.
