Update: Firefighters called twice to Main Street house Friday night

Three people received medical care Friday evening after two seperate fire calls at a Main Street residence, authorities said.

Red Wing Fire Department responded after 7:30 p.m. June 14 to a two-story house in the 1000 block of Main Street and found smoke and fire on the first floor, according to a news release. Two occupants inside the house at the time of the fire were transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing, one with a burn injury and the other for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters had the fire under control within 20 minutes, the news release states. The fire was contained to the kitchen area, though smoke damage was present throughout the house.

Firefighters then returned to the house after 11 p.m. June 14 for a report of another fire, according to a second news release. The fire was contained within an hour after arrival, though the roof of the house partially collapsed. One person was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing with trauma, the news release states.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A total of 18 firefighters responded to the scene of the first fire, and 15 responded to the second fire. Red Wing Fire Department also was assisted by Ellsworth Ambulance, Red Wing police, Minnesota State Patrol, the American Red Cross and Goodhue County Dispatch. Station coverage during the fire was provided by Goodhue Fire Department and Cannon Falls Ambulance.
