Red Wing seniors will be graduating in just a few short weeks, moving on to post-secondary life. For a group of Red Wing students, furthering their education to become future educators will begin soon.

A national trend ad mirroring college athletic signings, the soon-to-be graduates signed letters of intent to become teachers. Seven students participated in the May 21 signing, surrounded by their future colleagues and current teachers.

They and their college of enrollment are Emma Lundgren (Gustavus University), Tyler McGrath (University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire), Matea Simonson (Hamline University), Carson Nystrun (Winona State University), Kylie Urban (Winona State University), Chloe Wilkinson (Winona State University), and Mikayla Sanford (Winona State University).

A place was set for Allana Flores, who intends to go into the Minnesota National Guard. Flores wasn't present for Tuesday's signing.

An earlier version of this story had the wrong day of the week for the signing event. It has been corrected.
