RWHS speech team ranks fifth at Big 9

The Red Wing High School speech team ranked fifth in the overall team sweepstakes at the Big 9 Conference Speech Meet, coming home with several individual awards.

Team members who contributed to team standings included: Mia Beck; Alison Metzen (fifth place, Drama); Jenna Sanford; Josie Brickey and Cayanne Korder (third place, Duo); David Scheerer and Trey Ponto (fifth place, Duo); Rachel Dopkins; Kayleigh Hoppman; Jayda Pederson; Erin Jezierski; Micah Marks (fifth place, Humorous); Sarah Nelson; Londyn Overlander; Derek Braend; Marshall Laidlaw (fifth place, Informative); Rachel Hauschildt; Olivia Johnson; Elliott Engberg (second place, Original Oratory); Sadie Bloom; Yesenia Sanchez (third place, Poetry); Kailyn Peterson; Rachael Hernlem; and Grace O'Brien.

The team travels to Winona-Cotter, Saturday, March 23.

Winger Showcase

The team invites the community to attend its annual showcase 5:45-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at the school.

The evening will feature two rounds, giving the audience the chance to see two different groups of performances from RWHS speech competitors.

Arrive at 5:45 p.m. Round 1 begins at 6; Round 2 begins at 7.

This event is free and open to the public.
