RWHS speech to host competitors Feb. 23

The RWHS Speech Team traveled to Farmington High School on Saturday, Feb. 16, to compete against 400 competitors from 20 area teams.

Over half of Red Wing's competitors returned with individual awards.

Team members who participated in this meet were:

Elliot Engberg (honorable mentions, Creative Expression and Original Oratory); David Scheerer and Trey Ponto (honorable mention, Duo Interp); Mia Beck (second place, Novice Drama); Alison Metzen (third, Varsity Drama); Rachel Dopkins and Kayleigh Hoppman (seventh, Novice Duo); Josie Brickey and Cayanne Korder (sixth, Varsity Duo); Londyn Overlander (sixth, Novice Humorous); Marshall Laidlaw (second, Varsity Informative Speaking); James Smith (seventh, Varsity Original Oratory); Olivia Johnson (fifth, Varsity Original Oratory); Sadie Bloom (sixth, Novice Poetry); Grace O'Brien (fourth, Storytelling); Jayda Pederson; Erin Jezierski; Micah Marks; Derek Braend; Sarah Nelson; Mason Overman; Rachel Hauschildt; Yesenia Sanchez; Dyson Heschke; Kailyn Peterson; Tessa Heineman; Tesia Heineman; Audrey Lahammer; and Rachel Hernlem.

The team will play host to 20 area schools at the Winger home invitational tournament on Saturday, Feb. 23. There will be three performance rounds beginning at 9 a.m., 10:20 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. — all free and open to the public. The Red Wing community is invited to attend.
