Guilty plea entered in threat hoax case

A Red Wing woman entered a guilty plea Wednesday, July 18, on a felony charge of making threats of violence. Sentencing in the case was scheduled for Sept. 12 in Goodhue County District Court.

Keyah Mykah Mizer, 18, is accused of sending death threats to herself and two friends using a spoofed phone number in March 2018. The threats prompted an increased police presence at Red Wing High School and other security measures at nearby schools. The incident occured one week after students in Red Wing and around the country walked out of class to honor the 17 people who died in a school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Counts of falsely reporting a crime and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanours, will be dismissed.
