Crews respond to Pierce County crashes
Two people were hospitalized Monday after a suspected alcohol-involved crash in rural Hager City.
Pierce County Sheriff's Office deputies responded at 4:47 p.m. Feb. 19 to Highway 63 near 830th Street for a single-vehicle crash. The driver, Mondovi resident Emily M. Kent, and her passenger, 40-year-old Crystal R. Sanders Mendez, were taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System-Red Wing with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigation revealed Kent was southbound when she lost control of the vehicle, which overturned in a ditch. Deputies said alcohol was a factor in the crash.
It was the second significant crash in the Hager City area in recent days.
Deputies responded at 2:36 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 35 in the town of Diamond Bluff.
One driver, 75-year-old River Falls resident Onnolee Hill, was checked by EMS crews and released from the scene with minor injuries.
Deputies determined Hill was northbound in a 2015 Subaru Outback when she crossed the centerline and struck a 2010 GMC Sierra driven by Sebeka, Minn., resident Shawna Holmquist. Neither Holmquist, 30, nor her three passengers (including two minor children) were injured.
Hill's passenger, 71-year-old River Falls resident Andrea Preszler, was also uninjured, according to deputies.
