Red Wing police responded to a call at Memorial Park earlier today after a vehicle lost control driving downhill.

At 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, a brown Ford Taurus broke through the guardrail at the base of the park. The driver reportedly lost control, with the vehicle ending up in the yard of 657 E. Seventh St.

According to local authorities, the driver of the vehicle reported brake failure when traveling down Skyline Drive. After failure to downshift, the vehicle left the roadway and came to a rest. The car went through the steel guard rail and landed in a resident's flowerbed. The driver and passenger reported injuries and were taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing.

Red Wing Fire Department assisted at the scene.
