Highway 56 truck detour set for Kenyon bridge

Trucks over 5 tons will be detoured around a bridge on Highway 56 near Kenyon for two days beginning Friday, Sept. 15, while crews complete the second concrete pour on the deck and allow it to cure, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The detour is expected to be lifted Sunday.

The detour route is Highway 60 east to Highway 57 north (Wanamingo) to Highway 52 north (Hader) to Goodhue County Road 9 west to Highway 56. Regular traffic will continue on a single lane across the bridge. It remains open to traffic with the use of temporary traffic signals. The traffic signals regulate the traffic at the bridge. The work is part of a project on Highway 56 to replace two bridges: one south of Stanton at Prairie Creek and the other north of Kenyon at the North Fork of the Zumbro River. The bridge near Kenyon is scheduled to be completed by mid-October.
