Area boys basketball: Zumbrota-Mazeppa 81, Cannon Falls 38

The Cougars jumped all over Cannon Falls and built a 38-point halftime lead Tuesday in Zumbrota.

"All the guys on the floor were comfortable with what we were doing," Z-M coach Darin Raasch said.

With Bryan Hinrichs out of the lineup with an illness, Scott Steger, who is typically Z-M's sixth man, started and picked up a double-double. He scored 18 points and tallied 13 rebounds. Cody Lodermeier led Z-M with 23 points while his teammate Scott Flotterud added 10.

Cedric Dicke, Cannon Falls' leading scorer, was held to four points.

"Cedric's an excellent basketball player," Raasch said. "We've been fortunate to not have him go off on us this year."

Sean Serres led the Bombers with 11 points and six rebounds.

Z-M (11-4 overall, 3-3 Hiawatha Valley League Blue) travels Friday to Pine Island while Cannon Falls (4-9, 2-4) travels to Lake City the same night.
