VIDEO: Prairie Fire Lady Choir set WideSpot ablaze
Twenty four of the 60 members of the Prairie Fire Lady Choir packed into the WideSpot Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Oct. 13. The concert featured a variety of songs, such as "Settle Down," by New Zealand pop-singer Kimbra, "We Belong," made popular by Pat Benatar, a Leonard Cohen mashup and a piece written by one of the original members of the choir. For a couple of songs the choir used a tamborine, egg shaker, melodica and three-ring binder — used as a drum — to add to the 24 voices. When the concert came to an end, the choir received a standing-ovation and performed an encore after chants of "one more" rippled through the room.
