Friends of the Red Wing Library announce two spring events
In honor of National Poetry Month, the Friends of the Red Wing Library is hosting a "Poetry Read Aloud" 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, in the Red Wing Public Library's Foot Room. Those attending are invited to bring a favorite poem, an original, or one written by a favorite poet and share it with other poetry lovers. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Friends of the Library will hold their spring book sale the last weekend of April in the Red Wing Public Library Foot Room.
Pre-sale for members: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 26 — Memberships available at the door for $10.
Open to the public: 2-5 p.m. Friday, April 26 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27. Bag sale 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 29.
Book sale organizers say there will be a good selection of all genres of used books, especially for children and youth, hardcover and paperback fiction, biographies, history and cookbooks. Most books are priced at 50 cents. In addition, there will be a selection of vintage and unusual books, and a silent auction of very special books. The Monday bag sale offers buyers a bag of books for $2.
All proceeds from the sale go to purchasing items for the library. Recent profits have been used for reupholstering library furniture, a bench for Sally's Garden, two book return carts for the children's area, larger monitors for the public computers, and some security updates.
Come early and get some great bargains and help the library.
